Required documents:

To obtain a Building Permit, you will need to submit three (3) sets of building plans (that includes the original set of plans with the architect/engineer seal and signature), application and appreciate fee at the time of submission.  Please note that the Fire Marshals Division cannot issue a fire code permit prior to the review of the building plans.  It must be in compliance with the IFC 2015 International Fire codes. Adopted on February 22, 2017.

After reviewing the building plans, the Fire Marshals Division will contact the person on the building permit application and may discuss any further revisions or modifications needed. The Fire Marshals Division will return two (2) sets of the building plans and will issue a building permit.  The Fire Marshals Division will obtain the original set of building plans for our records.

If the project under permit requires a fire suppression or fire alarm system, the contractor installing the system must contact the Fire Marshals Division for a Fire Protection System permit. When the fire suppression or fire alarm system is completed or is in need of a visual inspection, the Fire Marshals Division must be contacted for an inspection on that particular system.

When the entire project is completed, the Fire Marshals Division must receive a Request for Final Inspection form.  After the final inspection, a Certificate of Compliance will then be issued. The business may not open for business without a Certificate of Compliance.
